PPPP—PRE PANDA PARADE PHOTOS
Rewind. These are photos pre-parade that Kai took for us. We met at La Guardia and Bleeker at 2pm, and everyone, despite the weather, dressed accordingly in protestant black. We handed out release forms, panda masks, signs, flyers, and bamboo leaves. PANDAs changed clothes in the middle of the street and we updated the crew about their duties and choreography. More photos to come. RESPECT.

Deitch Arts Parade
Fur Ril $. That was fucking crazy, hot, ridiculous and mad fun. We represented and we thank all of you that came out in the heat dressed in black and attitude.
Photos available from Victor's awesome cousin / Panda Supporter, Jay. You can see more pictures at:

We'll update soon after we recover. Panda is tired.

Panda Role Call
We are going to do 1 role for the entire parade. 5 in total. This will help you get into your character. We are going to assume these roles when the PANDA call is made. ONE EXCEPTION to this is the THIRD CALL - on the third call we are going to SPIN. No job - just SPIN! Since the parade is moving, though, we have to SPIN and WALK at the SAME TIME.So here we go:
Victor = Art Director
Vida = Dancer
Leaf = Musician
Olivia = Pastry Chef
Soohyen = Revolutionary (Political or otherwise)
Jennifer = Secretary
Modi = Gallerist
Yoge = Graphic Designer
Katherine = House Flipper
Julie = Photographer
I hope that these roles allow room for interpretation. HAVE FUN WITH IT!
ALSO WE WILL BE MEETING AT 2PM AT BLEECKER AND WEST BROADWAY. IF WE HAVE TO CALL YOU TO CONFIRM WE WILL DO SO. DON'T LEAVE A PANDA BEHIND.

Panda Sweatshop of One
Panda HQ merged with CRYE last night. Panda D aka Katherine offered her velcro sewing services to me.
Whew, sweatshop is headed late into the night. Panda is getting tired.
Apple soda break. Avoid turning into blind Black Panda.
Close up of amazing Juki sewing machine with backstitch and thread trimming capabilities. Helps with Panda progress.
Ready for Saturday.

The PANDA Manual
So the Deitch Art Parade is in less than one week and the momentum is building.
Although we have videos illustrating what we need from the participants, here is our literary interpretation of the events to unfold. Pardon if any of this is repetitive.
B-L-A-C-K P-A-N-D-A people - you know who you is...
(We NEED your shirts. If you have not gotten your black shirt to us yet, please get it to us ASAP!!! Call us and let us know what's up! Jennifer and Victor work in midtown. Also, Jennifer lives in Williamsburg for a drop off.
The parade route is 5 blocks along West Broadway in SoHo. In our PANDA costume (black T-shirts with the letters on them, black pants, white or gray shoes, the PANDA mask, and the PANDA paws) we will walk along the parade route and wave to the crowd. When Victor makes the PANDA call, we will jump into character:
["Oooh -ohh" - that is the PANDA call as per the videos]
1. Find your partners (so as to spell out BLACK PANDA). To the Letters "A" FYI there are 3 of you. You can alternate positions, but don't misspell or get confused. If you choose to not switch around, let's talk about that.
2. Line up side by side and take 5 big steps.
3. Dip into your PANDA identity (basically acting)
4. We will be acting our imaginary jobs for about 8 counts, while walking.
PANDA identity possibilities: Designer, artist, dancer, photographer, art director, conceptual artist, model - you get the idea (anything really!) You can change every block and be a different identity if you wish, or if you feel really confident about just one, that's fine too.
4. At the end of the block, stop and wave again.

Oh snap! That's Easy!!!
Supporter PANDAs
The supporter PANDAs will be walking alongside the letter wearers and distribute leaflets, drop paper leaves on the ground, and tote signs in the air with BP slogans and graphics. The costume is the same with the exception of the paws.
At PANDA call time the supporters will become PANDA guards and protect the letter wearers as they pantomime in the street. Think of the onlookers as the paparazzi and the PANDA line as the celebs. When the Letters stop acting, then you return to marching again.

Double easy!!! - Snip Snap!
Please arrive in SoHo (location TBA) at 2 PM on Saturday ,September 8th, so we can rehearse beforehand. This is very important because we all have jobs and cannot meet mid-week before the parade. Also, there will be an after party at the Delancey. We all know that PANDAs like to boogie wuggie... OK - that's it for now.
This event is going to be the bomb with your support.
Call or email if you have ANY problems, concerns, queries, etc.

PANDA Briefing No. 3
This Video illustrates the role of the supporters. Take special note of Modi's movements (the babe carrying the sign) when the PANDA call is made. Once the Letters have begun their actions an 8 count will begin. At the end of the count we will begin marching as usual again. Yesss!!!
